The Esther W. Couper Heritage Society
Named in honor of one of Binghamton University's most generous supporters, the Esther W. Couper Heritage Society recognizes alumni and friends who have made a commitment to the BU Foundation through their wills or other planned gifts. If you make such a commitment in your estate plans, you qualify for membership in the Society. By notifying the University Foundation of your intentions, you give the University the opportunity to strategically plan for the future with a concrete knowledge of the resources that will be available. And, as a member of the Society, you can serve as an example to others of how planned giving can benefit both Binghamton University and the donor. Esther W. Couper (1899-2000) was wife of the late Edgar W. Couper, former New York Regents Chancellor and a founder of Harpur College. The Couper Fund for Educational Excellence was endowed in Binghamton's School of Education and Human Development. The Esther Couper Scholarship supports merit scholarships for undergraduate University students. In addition to her long-standing support of Binghamton University, Esther Couper helped thousands of people in the region through her founding of the Family and Children's Society of Binghamton, providing counseling, anti-abuse programs, single-parent programs, elder home care, an adoption center and more. Couper served as co-chair of the honorary committee of The Campaign for Binghamton University. To enroll in the Esther W. Couper Heritage Society click here.
